Invest in the future of Canadian health

Keep Canada's best health ideas at home.

Canada is full of world-changing health ideas. Our clinicians invent them, and our patients help prove they work. But too often, we lose them: the best get sold south, and the cures, jobs and know-how go with them. It doesn't have to be this way. Working with partners like CHEO, CORE Innovation backs these breakthroughs (from new devices to AI and digital-health tools), helps them grow into lasting companies, and helps our own hospitals put them to use. Your support keeps them here, and gets them to patients faster.

Canada isn't short on great health ideas. We're short on turning them into businesses that last, and on adopting our own. Your support helps close both gaps.

A gap we can close

Let's put Canada first in health innovation.

Right now, about 90% of promising medical ideas never reach a patient. Not because the science is weak, but because the support runs out at the hardest step: the leap from a proven idea to a product hospitals actually use. That is not a law of nature. It is a gap in backing, and backing is something we can choose to give. A cure that never reaches a patient isn't a cure; it's a question we could have answered.

Here's the exciting part: Canada already has the talent, the hospitals, and the ideas. What we've been missing is the will to back them all the way, and to use our own. Do that, and we don't just stop losing breakthroughs to bigger markets. We take the lead. Inaction hands our best ideas away. The right support puts Canada in first place.

Inaction loses most of our best ideas. The right support puts Canada in first place.

The bridge across the gap

Your support doesn't get spent. It gets to work, and comes back.

Every dollar moves a promising innovation along a proven path, invested, tested, and scaled to the patients, kids and communities who need it.

Invest in what's promising

We back early-stage, clinician-led innovations (the devices, diagnostics, AI and digital-health tools most likely to change care) at the exact moment traditional funding won't.

Build the evidence

Inside a 2M-patient living-lab network, we test each innovation with real clinical validation and real-world evidence, turning a good idea into a trusted, ready-to-adopt solution.

Scale to patients

We carry proven innovations across the finish line, to patients and families, to Canadian jobs, and to a stronger, more independent health economy.

The flywheel:This is what people call venture philanthropy, a simple idea. It means giving and investing at the same time. When a company we backed does well, the money comes back to us. We use it to fund the next breakthrough. So your support doesn't get spent once. It keeps working, again and again.

One national effort

Great ideas, scattered. Let's bring them together.

Canada has the talent to build world-changing health tools. But the effort is spread thin and easy to break. Across the country, strong programs start, do real good, then fade, and the next place starts over from zero. We keep solving the same problems alone, again and again.

  • Too little support

Promising programs run on short-term grants. When the money ends, the work, and the know-how, often ends with it.

  • Too few leaders

So much rests on one champion. When that person moves on, the whole effort can move on with them.

  • Walls between provinces

What works in one province rarely crosses into the next. Good ideas stay stuck where they started, instead of spreading.

Other countries have kept their health-innovation training going for decades, teaching thousands the same simple method: find the real need, invent a fix, then put it to use. Canada has every piece it needs to do the same. What's missing is the connective tissue. Your investment helps join these efforts into one shared network with one national name, so leaders, ideas and support build on each other, instead of starting over.

A national priority

Canadian ideas. Canadian AI. Kept in Canada.

The tools that will shape children's health (AI that helps doctors, and digital-health apps) are being invented right here, and where they grow up matters. CORE Innovation works to keep that talent, those ideas and those jobs in Canada. We build AI and digital health that people can trust, instead of watching our best ideas get sold back to us from abroad.

Our work aligns with Canada's national AI strategy and its goal of a strong, independent Canadian health economy, a national priority your support helps deliver.

Why go through Core

Money alone doesn't build a company. Guidance does.

It's tempting to hand a promising company a cheque and hope for the best. But good ideas fail all the time, not from bad intentions, but because first-time founders hit problems they've never seen before, and the money runs out before they solve them. Some well-funded programs have poured tens of millions straight into new founders and seen little in return. Good money, wasted, because money alone doesn't build a company.

Put your support through CORE Innovation and it doesn't just land in a bank account. It's guided by a team that has built and sold companies before, tested inside real hospitals, measured for real impact, and connected to the people who can actually adopt the product. We turn support into results, and make every dollar go further. That's why going through us is smarter than backing a company directly.

The smartest way to back a Canadian company isn't to hand it a cheque. It's to back the people who can guide it there.

However you like to support us (invest through us, contribute to us directly, or give through our charitable foundation partner for a tax receipt), your support is in experienced hands, and measured for real impact.

Stewarded by people who cross the gap for a living.

CORE Innovation works inside the health system, alongside partners like the CHEO Research Institute (the research engine of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) and Bruyère, with support from FedDev Ontario. It's led by practising clinicians, co-founded by Dr. Jason Berman and Dr. Matthew Bromwich. We don't stand outside the system and comment on it. We work inside it, where ideas are invented, proven, turned into companies, and put to use. With three successful exits and 150+ companies engaged, your support is in the hands of people who have moved breakthroughs across the gap before.

Choose your path

Pick where your support goes. Every path moves an idea forward.

First, choose where your support goes.

Preferred

Invest directly in CORE Innovation

This is our preferred path: invest in the future of Canadian health innovation. Your support comes straight to us, powers the whole mission, and skips any middle step. CORE Innovation is a not-for-profit, not a registered charity, so a direct investment does not come with a tax receipt, but every dollar goes right to work.

Invest in Core

Give and get a tax receipt

Want an official tax receipt? Make a charitable donation through our registered charitable foundation partner, a registered charity that supports health innovation. They send your tax receipt and put the money to work. You can share where you'd like your gift to go, but the foundation makes the final call.

Give for a receipt

Back an idea you believe in

Drawn to one breakthrough? Tell us, and we'll carry that wish forward. This works on either path. No support is promised to one named company. For receiptable charitable gifts, the foundation keeps the final say.

Champion an idea

Become a founding investor

Make a leadership investment and start a fund in your name that keeps working for years. You choose the path: straight to Core, or through the foundation for a receipt.

Start a conversation

Partner as a company or group

Great for companies, foundations, and government-linked funders who want to make a real mark. You get real recognition and ways to involve your team. Either path works for you.

Explore partnership

Back one company directly

Want to back one company yourself? We'll make the introduction. Keep in mind that direct support skips the guidance, impact tracking and adoption support that come with going through Core, and it is not tax-receiptable.

Get connected

Your support did this

From a clinic frustration to a tool that travels the world.

It often starts small: a clinician sees the same problem every week and knows there's a better way. In our model, that idea doesn't wait years for the right grant, it gets backed early, tested inside a real patient network, and carried to market while it still matters. That's the arc behind a made-in-Canada innovation like SHOEBOX Audiometry, which put hearing testing into places it had never reached and grew into a $60M landmark exit, with the returns flowing back to fund the next breakthrough.

Illustrative of how the model works, one company's journey among the 150+ we've engaged.

When one innovation reaches patients a few years sooner, it can mean thousands of lives touched, earlier diagnoses, and millions saved for a health system already stretched thin, and it starts with support like yours.

How support works

Supporting us is simple, and we want to be clear about how it works. Your support can take three easy paths. First (and our favourite) fund, invest in or contribute to CORE Innovation directly, so every dollar goes right to work. Because we are a not-for-profit and not a registered charity, direct support does not come with a tax receipt. Second, if you want an official tax receipt, make a charitable donation through our registered charitable foundation partner, a registered charity that supports health innovation and issues receipts under its own charitable registration. Third, if you'd rather back one company, we'll connect you, but direct support to a company does not come with a receipt either. Whichever path you pick, you're helping a good idea reach a child faster.

You may indicate a preference for how your charitable gift is used, but our registered charitable foundation partner retains ultimate authority and discretion over the use of all donated funds. If your gift is not used in the way you prefer, it will not be returned. No gift is directed to, or guaranteed to be granted to, any specific named company. Charitable tax receipts are issued solely by our registered charitable foundation partner under its own charitable registration. CORE Innovation is a not-for-profit that does not issue tax receipts, and support given to or through CORE Innovation is not, in itself, tax-deductible.
